Wilson Oliver was born Saturday, January 30, 1925 in Summerton, South Carolina to the late George Oliver and Annie Robinson-Oliver.
Like many of his sibling, Wilson relocated North with hopes to offer his family a better life, settling in Washington, DC for several years. Later he moved back to South Carolina, and from there he moved on to New York and afterwards moved to New Jersey. After many years he relocated back to South Carolina.
Wilson accepted Christ into his life and joined Historic Liberty AME Church in Summerton, SC.
In 1946 he married to the late Willie Mae “Retta” Mack and to this union, they were blessed with six children.
On Sunday, April 19, 2020, Wilson Oliver, Sr. passed away peacefully at Prizma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was proceeded in death by a son, Wilson Oliver, Jr.; seven sisters, Elsie, Jane, Evelyn, Daisy, Margaret (Pet), Annie Mae and Sarah; and three brothers, Sam, Willie and Bertie.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Harold (Jacquelyn) Oliver and John Oliver, both of Columbia, SC and Charles (Ernestine) Oliver of Alcolu, SC; two daughters, Teresa Oliver of Summerton, SC and Carla (Eddie) Brock of Lithonia, GA, a sister-in-law, Lillie Ida Owns of Columbia, SC; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
