Tyone Bannister Obituary

Tyone Donell “Deek” Bannister was born on Wednesday, December 10, 1980 in Clarendon County to his parents, Janet Junius and Joseph Stukes.

Deek, as affectionately called by many, was reared in Summerton, South Carolina and spent a brief period at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.  He attended schools in Camp LeJune, North Carolina, and Clarendon School District One, Summerton, South Carolina.  For a short period, he worked at Pilgrim Pride, Sumter, South Carolina.

Deek was one who brought much fun and laughter to all.  He had a kind and compassionate spirit. He was quick witted and known for his infectious smile.  He never met a stranger and he loved unconditionally, even when it was not reciprocated.

On Saturday, November 21, 2020, Tyone Donell “Deek” Bannister, a father and a son, transitioned from mortality to immortality at McCleod Hospital in Florence, South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Carolyn Johnson and Ethel Bannister; two grandfathers, Nelson “Bubba” Bannister and Abraham Benbow; his stepfather, Herbert Junius; an uncle, Richard Johnson and an aunt, Brinder Lee Benbow-Nemhard.

Because of his sudden death, he did not have time to tell everyone he was leaving or to say good-bye.  But rest assured, that if he had his way, he would have sent out invitations to a big celebration.  See, the last thing he was planning was a birthday party for all to come.

Those left to cherish his memories, a loving son, Tyone Bannister, Jr.;  Summerton, SC;  a devoted mother, Janet Junius of Summerton, SC; a father, Joseph Stukes of Thomasville, NC; and four brothers, Darius O’mar (Melissa) Junius and Justin Raquan, and Kendrick L.
