Shelia Denise Stukes born Saturday, May 7, 1966 in Clarendon County, was the daughter of Annie Faye Rhames-Stukes and the late Willie Stukes. She departed this earthly life on April 12, 2021 at Mcleod Regional Medical Center.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. She is a 1984 graduate of Scott’s Branch High School. Shelia accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (Summerton, SC) and later became a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church (Pinewood, SC).
Shelia was very caring and nurturing. She was a mother, sister and friend to many. Her smile and presence lit up and could fill an entire space. Shelia was very active in sports, playing softball, basketball and she was also a cheerleader, while at Scott’s Branch High.
She loved dancing, listening to southern soul music and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lakeenia Maria Hart, her brother Willie Stukes Rhames and her father Willie Stukes.
Those left to cherish her memories are her mother, Annie Faye Rhames-Stukes of Summerton, SC, one daughter, Adriane D. (Ferry) Cannon of Newport News, VA; four sons, Charles D. (Tylesha) Hart of Sumter, SC; Christopher F. Brailsford of Summerton, SC; Devin T. Brailsford of Killeen, TX; Jacob D. Brailsford of Summerton, SC.
Seven sisters, Sherline (David) McWhite of Mountain Home, ID; Sandra Stukes-James and Cynthia (Mack) McKenzie of Columbia, SC; Shermica (William) Session and Lucinda (Angela) Stukes of Summerton, SC; Mary Alice (Javier) Lambert of New York, NY; A friend who is more like a sister, Viola Kind of Summerton, SC; Two Brothers, Linburg Rhames of Bishopville, SC and Bryan (Sheila) Stukes of New Zion, SC. Shelia also leaves six grandchildren of who will truly miss their grandma, Ferrian and Saniya Cannon; Damani and Nyemah Hart; Malaysia and Carter Brailsford. A life companion, John Bannister and host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
