Ruth Reed Leonard, daughter of the late Bessie Leonard Wells and stepdaughter of the late William Wells was born November 18, 1940, in Washington DC.
Upon the death of her grandmother, the family relocated back to South Carolina, residing in the Silver Community. Ruth received her early education in the public schools of Clarendon County. She was a graduate of the Scott’s Branch High School Class of 1958. After receiving her education, Ruth began her professional career in retail which later transitioned to running the family business.
She was a life-long member of Friendship African Methodist Episcopal Church, Pinewood, South Carolina.
Ruth was a very special woman and loved by many. She departed this earthly life on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Patricia Leonard, and her sister Cammie Leonard Richburg.
Ruth leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters Bessie Earlene Leonard of the home and Clara Ann Leonard of Columbia, SC, six grandchildren that she reared as her own: Brianna, Cory, Justin, Trevear, Shania, and Grant, two great grands, Chyna Ruth Davis, and Aiden Parker Moses, one niece, three nephews and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
