Leon Gibson

Leon Gibson was born on Monday, June 26, 1949 in Clarendon County to the late Moses Gibson, Sr. and Lessie Gibson.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

At an early age he accepted Christ and became a member of St. Phillips R.M.U.E. Church in Pinewood, SC.

Leon was formerly married to Mary Lawson and from this union they were blessed with two children, Lawrence and Jamal Gibson. In 1998, he married the former Mary Brunson and together they shared a son, Clayton Brunson. He also reared one daughter, Pamela Baxter.

On Monday, February 17, 2020, Leon Gibson entered into eternal rest at Mcleod Reginal Medical Center in Florence, SC. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, John, Louis, Tyrone and Moses Gibson, Jr.

Leon leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted loving and caring wife, Mary Gibson of the home; three sons, Lawrence (Melissa) Gibson of Summerville, SC, Jamal Gibson of Summerton, SC and Clayton (Martha) Brunson of Miami, Fl; one daughter, Pamela Baxter of Pinewood, SC; one brother, Willie (Sue) Gibson of Pinewood, SC; four sisters-in-law, Alice Gibson of Pinewood, SC, Bertha Gibson of Deerfield, FL, Carrie McDonald and Susan Pearson, both of Summerton, SC; six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends at his home, 21 Parson Street, Summerton, SC.
