Evangelist Mother Maggie Butler Robinson was born on Sunday, April 11, 1939 in Clarendon County to the late Emma Smith Brock and the late Ezikel Butler.
She attended the public schools of Clarendon County. Maggie was reared in the Silver Community. At a young age she joined the St. John Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as a her personal savior. She was a faithful member until moving to Summerton, later joining the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Maggie served in several capacities including, Youth Sunday School Teacher, President of the Missionary Society, Usher Board, Senior Choir and Associate Minister. While serving in her local church, she was an active member of the Greater Friendly Union and the Christian Fellowship Association and YWCA Lodge until her health begin to fail.
She was married to the late Alex Robinson, Jr. for a number of years and was a domestic worker all of her life to provide for food and shelter for her family and those in need.
Maggie will definitely be missed by her family and friends that loved her so dearly. You’re gone but never forgotten in our hearts. We will carry you daily with us and will remember you cooking of homemade biscuits, potato and coconut pies, pound cake, soup, hoppin’ john rice, sugar water and Kool aide. She made sure the family was never hungry and for that they will forever appreciate and love her.
Evangelist Mother Maggie Butler Robinson departed this life on earth where the Lord has a new home for her in glory on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Mclead Heath Clarendon, Manning, South Carolina. In addition to her parents she is proceeded in death by her siblings, Emma, Archie, Elmore and Willie Lee Brock.
She leaves to cherish her memories, nine children who has remained the apple of her eye since birth, Levie (Franceina) Robinson, Alex Robinson III, Apostle Elizabeth Gibson and Geneva (Willis) Taylor-Bowman, all of Summerton, SC, Cornelia Broadie, Kelvin (Stephine) Robinson, Sylvester Robinson and John Robinson, all of Thomasville, NC and Harry (Betty) Butler of Columbia, SC; two stepsons, Calvin (Shirley) Purg of Sumter, SC and James Purg of Thomasville, NC; seven children that she raised as her own, Elease Solomon and Cindy Peggy House, both of Summerton, SC, Gloria Hart of Sumter, SC, Daniel (Barbara) Solomon of Ocala, FL, Paul Solomon of Detroit, MI and Reverend Charlie (Brenda) Thomas of Greenville, SC; twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Nate (Annie) Brock and David Brock, Jr., both of Sumter, SC; one sister, Betty (Leonard) Johnson of Columbia, SC; three sisters-in-law, Hattie Brock of Manning, SC, Alice Solomon of Summerton, SC and Ida Solomon of Thomasville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home, 24 Parson Street, Summerton, SC between the hours of 5:00PM-8:00PM with Mask.
