Ethel “Tutter” Hampton Parker was born on Saturday, August 29, 1925 to the late Adam Hampton and the late Millie Nelson Hampton in the Rimini Community of Clarendon County.
She attended the public schools of Clarendon County.
Ethel was a member of Greater St. Phillips R. M. U. E. Church, where she accepted Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of the Usher’s Board for many years before her illness and was unable to attend.
Ethel was united in marriage to the late Johnny Parker.
On Sunday, May 17, 2020, Ethel Hampton Parker entered into eternal rest at her home in the River Road Community of Pinewood, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two children, Vivian D. Walters and Gardenia S. Parker and eight siblings, Emma T. McKnight, George Hampton, Preston Hampton, Mary H. Logan, Adam Hampton, Jr., Annie H. Briggs, Richard Hampton and Millie H. Canty.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, six children, Lelia Barlow and Reverend Theola Parker, both of Summerton, SC, Ethel Barnes of Washington, DC, Charlie Parker of Sumter, SC, Geneva (Ray) Mitchell of Greenville, SC and Lendell Parker of Plainfield, NJ; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
