Elease Gibson Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, Shall give me at that day:  and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”  -II Timothy 4:7-8 KJV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not parish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 KJV

Elease McDuffie was born on May 20, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York, the second daughter of five children, to Mr. Albert Ellison & Mrs. Pearletha Caristi.  She entered peacefully into eternity on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at McCleod’s Hospital in Florence, South Carolina. Her father preceded her in death.

Elease, affectionately called “Michelle” and “Poosie,” began her early education in Brooklyn, New York.  She later graduated from high school in Marlboro County, South Carolina. Following completion of her formal education, she was certified as a CNA and was employed by Cab Nursing Home in New York.

After relocating to Summerton, South Carolina, she was employed by Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton.

At an early age, “Michelle” gave her life to God.  Much later, she met and married the “love of her life”, Michael A. Gibson.  Afterwards, she joined him in worship at Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church, Summerton, South Carolina.

“Poosie” loved her family and she loved to cook, oh how she loved to cook.  She did not mind boasting about her cooking, and often teased and joked that her other sisters could not cook.  She enjoyed catering to her husband, daughter and grandchildren.  It was simply her delight.  They were the joy of her life.  Nonetheless, she did not mind going out of her way for others. She was not a complainer, just a doer.  She believed that it was not all about how long you live but how well you lived.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, she will be missed.

“Michelle” leaves to cherish her memories her dearly beloved and devoted husband, Michael Gibson; two children, Raymond McRae of McCall, SC and Patrice McRae of Blenheim, SC; two beautiful grandchildren, Ken’nasia and Kamrin McRae of Blenheim, SC; mother, Pearletha Caristi of Brooklyn, NY; three sisters, Renee Stanton (Jerome) and Mary (Dwayne) Kinney of Clio, SC and Angela (Andre) Kearney of Brooklyn, NY; four half-sisters, Nalanie Bodie of Detroit, MI, Kason Mathews of Queens, NY, Tuwan Ellison of Brooklyn, NY, and Lois Jones of Durham, NC; mother in-law, Thomasine Gibson of Summerton, SC; three sisters in-law, Cynthia Tindal and Theresa Gibson of Summerton, SC and Mary (Rev. Mitchell) Adger of Manning, SC; a god-son, Dontay Gillespie of Fayetteville, NC; and four special friends, Patricia McRae of Clio, SC, Mary Gillespie and Helen Reese of Fayetteville, NC, and Natasha Quintyne of Indian Head, MD; and blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
