Obituary

Rev. Dr. Ransom Coard Jr, was born November 8, 1946, to the late Ransom Sr and Lillie Bell Brown Coard.  He was the oldest of six children he transition on May 7, 2020, at 2:51 pm.

Ransom was and raised in the Panola area of Clarendon county South Carolina.  He attend Panola elementary school for year,. That school close and he was moved to St. Paul Elementary and Middle school.  He is a 1964 graduate of Scott's Branch High. He was part of the winningest football team in the history of Scott's Branch High and the state of South Carolina during that era.

After high school he entered the military.  He served in the Vietnam War. His military service tours took him to the states of Colorado and Washington. After his release from his military service he settled in the State of Washington and raised his family.

Ransom received a BS degree from Evergreen University and a Doctorate degree in theology. He received a degree in electrical engineering from Denmark technical College, Denmark, SC.

He was owner of his own businesses named Liberty and Panola Construction. He used his expertise and travel from his home in Washington, to other states with low income area renovating homes and communities year after year. He set up a home for veterans that were homeless in Seattle and Tacoma area.

He married the late Shirley James to this union two sons were born Oldest Laney and Randy.  After a divorce from Shirley he became a Single father raising his sons from small boys through high school and college years into independent outstanding men.  His daughter Ranzell Wilson join the family his baby girl, his princess and youngest son Lil'ran Goe.

After living in the Pacific Northwest for many years, Ransom return to his home area.  He was the pastor of several churches in Charleston, Lexington, Gaffney, Orangeburg and Wedgefield, South Carolina.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy Sons Laney (Angela) Coard, St. Helen, Oregon, Randy Coard and Lil'lan Goe, Tacoma, Washington, daughter Ranzell Wilson, Tacoma, Washington, 11 grandchildren Sisters, Betty(Leon) Frieson, Fairburn, Georgia and Patricia A. Coard-Seabrooks, Atlanta, Georgia, brother Earnest Lee Richburg, Summerton, SC, Aunt Ida Lee Fleming"Aunt Nute", Columbia, SC. a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Preceeding him in transition of life his brother Milton Coard, sister Diann Coard-Williams, the baby Coard and nephew Ronald Wayne Williams.
