Jessie William Dixon was born on Sunday, July 18, 1948, in Summerton, South Carolina, to the late Alice and Harry Dixon.

He was reared in a Christian home where he attended St. Matthews A.M.E. Church with his family. Jessie received his education in the Clarendon County School System. He was later employed at Jack Touchberry Farm, where he worked for many years.

On July 21, 1970, Jessie was joined in marriage to Frances Sampson in New York City. Their union was blessed with two children, Meshalle and Jessie Jr.

Jessie was a hardworking and dedicated man. He was employed at Buddy Knitwear for 15 years and later worked with Filco Carting Company for 25 years until his retirement.

He was a faithful churchgoer and attended the Holy House of Prayer in Brooklyn, NY, where he loved worshiping and fellowshipping with others. Known affectionately as "J-Rock," Jessie was kind, loving, and well-liked by all who knew him. His cheerful spirit, warm smile, and charismatic personality brought joy to many. He cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that will never be forgotten.

Jessie was preceded in death by his siblings Annie, Freddie, Harry, Windell, and Virginia.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his former wife, Frances Sampson of Sumter, SC; one daughter, Meshalle (Corey) Wood of Greenville, NC; one son, Jessie Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Grady (Dorothy) Dixon of Miami, FL, and Albert (Frances) Dixon of Columbia, SC; one sister, Ruby Dixon of Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren, Corey Golson, Teronn Wood, Tyshawn Sneed, Daquan Audain, and Alayjah Crawaey; two great-grandchildren, Ceanna Golson and Kyrie Golson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
