Emanuel
Walters
Dec 14, 1953 — Sep 10, 2026
Summerton, SC
“For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
- Psalm 30:5
Emanuel “Pluke” Walters, son of the late John and Louise Livingston Walters, was born on December 14, 1953, in Rimini, South Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York.
At an early age, Emanuel accepted Christ as his personal Savior and began his walk of faith. He received his education through the public schools of Clarendon County. Later, Emanuel relocated to New York City, where he established his home and career. He retired from Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, after many years of dedicated service in the Building Services Department.
In 1992, Emanuel met the love of his life, Joan, in Brooklyn, New York. The two fell deeply in love and were later united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Alaysia Simone Walters.
Emanuel was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his generosity, strong work ethic, and genuine love for his family and friends. He enjoyed bringing people together and took great pleasure in hosting cookouts and fish fries, creating opportunities for family and friends to gather, share good food, laughter, and fellowship.
Emanuel found great joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, cooking on the grill, and, of course, shuffling a good deck of cards. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching a good old-fashioned country western. His warm spirit, generous heart, and love for bringing people together made him a special presence in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be cherished.
Emanuel was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Lee Walters, Joseph Walters, Deloris Walters, James Walters, and Sheryl Lawson.
Emanuel leaves to cherish his memory and carry forward the love he shared, his devoted wife, Joan L. Walters out of Summerton, South Carolina; his son, Deslin Walters of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Alaysia Simone Walters of Brooklyn, New York; his bonus daughter Wyneekwa Green of Brooklyn, New York; and his bonus son, Elijuwon Green of Brooklyn, New York. He also leaves four grandchildren, Kimora Walters, Shamir McDonald, Dylan Walters, and Sevyn Green, who will forever carry the love and precious memories they shared with their grandfather. He is also survived by seven siblings: Geneva; Perry Young (Gardenia); John Walters (Patricia); Willie Walters; Charlie Parker; Joanne Walters; and Cornell Walters (Edna). Emanuel leaves to cherish his memory one uncle, William Livingston, and one aunt, Claudia Livingston, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Emanuel’s life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, hard work, love, and fellowship. Though he has taken his rest, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
