Obituary

Deacon William Mitchell , 75, of Okeechobee, FL passed away peacefully at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was born in Rimini, SC (Clarendon County, SC) to the parents of the late George and Virginia McFadden Mitchell on September 20,1944. William was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. During his lifetime, he was employed at T&P Plastering for over 20 years and has over 50 years of masonry experience. He had an insatiable passion for building and restoring homes. He was a member of First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Okeechobee, FL where he served as a deacon. His activities included but was not limited to memberships and positions held in various religious, political, fraternal and charitable organizations. He was an avid fisherman and made catfish stew and chowder that was out of this world! Mr. Mitchell was an outdoors person who loved the water and travelling to visit his family.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020 a 7:47 am, he peacefully departed this life. Along with his parents, George and Virginia Mitchell, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Audrey L James and a brother, Robert Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a devoted wife of 44 years, Velma Jean Mitchell of Okeechobee, FL; 7 sons, Michael (Saheeda) Stokes of Titusville, FL, Gregory (Shonda) Reese of Rockledge, FL, William "Lorenzo" (Doris) Mitchell of Lawrenceville, GA, James "Bernard" Mitchell of Titusville, FL, Corneluis Mitchell of Okeechobee, FL, Stanley (LaSara) Mitchell of Statesboro, GA, Nicholas (Angela) Mitchell of Phenix City, Ala. 2 daughters, Bernice Mitchell of Vierra, Florida, Debra Williams of Orlando FL; 19 Grandchildren and  8 Great Grandchildren; 5 Brothers, Moses (Dolly) Mitchell of Pinewood, South Carolina, Albertis (Barbara) Pugh of Thomasville, North Carolina, James (Frances) Mitchell of Jacksonville, FL, Samuel Mitchell of Bowie, MD, Clayburn (Sharon) Mitchell of Bergenfield, New Jersey; 2 Sisters, Georgia M Mitchell of Bowie, MD and Carolyn (Amos) Holiday of Bowie, Md. A host of Nieces and Nephews.
