Channing Gilyard was born on Thursday, October 10, 1986, in Summerton, SC to James McBride and the late Cynthia Gilyard and Godparents, of Mrs. Yolanda Neal and the late Dewey Neal.

Channing attended the public schools of Clarendon County and was a member of the Scott's Branch High School Class of 2005 and later attended Central Carolina Technical College. Channing worked at Sykes as a Customer Service Representative before moving to North Carolina. He was later employed at Walmart in Thomasville, North Carolina. Channing enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

On Monday, September 20, 2021, Channing Gilyard departed this earthly life in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Channing leaves to cherish his memories, his father, James (Connie) McBride of Norfolk, VA; a Godmother, Yolanda Neal of Sumter, SC; four brothers, Travis (Nina) Gilyard and Rajast Mouzon, both of Thomasville, NC, Michael (Toni) Mitchell of Pinewood, SC and Khiry Trammell of Summerton, SC; six sisters, Tamika (Timothy) Grant of Rembert, SC, Ashley (Montaca) Holland of Fredricksburg, VA, Keshonna Mouzon and Kaprisha Mouzon, both of Thomasville, NC, Adrianna (Dorian) McElveen of Sumter, SC and Kendra (Codey) Witherspoon of North Augusta, SC; three aunts, Dr. Carolyn (Hawley) Gilyard Robinson and Rhonda Thames, both of Summerton, SC, Leversa (Dwayne) Johnson of Columbia, SC; three uncles, John (Barbara) McBride and Randolph Cooper, both of Miami, FL and Jerry (Mary) Gilyard of Pinewood, SC; three grand uncles, two grand aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
