Annie Faye
Rhames Stukes
Jun 3, 1946 — Sep 7, 2026
Summerton, SC
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” ~Jeremiah 29:11
Her Journey
Born on Monday, June 3, 1946, in Clarendon County to the late Maebelle and Linburg Rhames, Annie Faye Stukes, affectionately and widely known as "Munshine," was a formidable presence whose spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She received her formal education in Clarendon County public schools. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. She later became a dedicated member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Pinewood, South Carolina, and a member of the Legendary Pringle Jubilee Choir. On Monday, September 7, 2026, surrounded by the enduring love of her family, Annie Faye peacefully departed this earthly life at McLeod Health Clarendon.
A Pillar of Love and Nurturing
To describe Annie Faye simply as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend does not fully capture the magnitude of her heart. Her presence alone could fill an entire room. She possessed a voice that commanded attention, and she never minced words; you always knew exactly where you stood with her, wrapped in her fierce honesty and unwavering loyalty.
Munshine was an amazing matriarch whose love language was active, relentless care. She was deeply devoted to her family, instilling unbreakable lessons on unity, loyalty, and what it truly means to be there for one another through every season of life. Her home was a sanctuary of open doors and endless meals; she didn't just raise her own children; she was a mother figure to countless others. She opened her home and heart, taking in numerous children over the years, guiding them, and loving them as her own. If you walked into her kitchen, you were fed; if you needed a safe harbor, she provided it. Whether she was teaching a life lesson, sharing words of wisdom, or filling the house with the sounds of gospel and rhythm and blues music while dancing, her love was tangible, protective, and profound.
Legacy and Loved Ones
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Stukes Sr.; her daughter, Sheila Stukes; her son, Willie Stukes Rhames; her granddaughters, Lakenia Maria Hart and Aaliyah Reanai Hall; and her grandson, Bryan Stukes.
Annie Faye’s magnificent legacy of love, resilience, and community care lives on through her children. Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Sherline (David) McWhite of Wichita Falls, TX; Sandra Stukes-James; Viola Kind; Shermica (William) Session; and Lucinda (Angela) Stukes of Summerton, SC; Linburg Rhames of Bishopville, SC; and Bryan (Sheila) Stukes of New Zion, SC; her siblings Jacquilean Rhames Smythe; Jacob Rhames of Summerton, SC; Helen Rhames Cange, Palm Beach, FL
She leaves behind an extraordinary tapestry of 48 grandchildren and great-grandchildren ranging in age from her eldest grandchild of 43 to her youngest of just 1 year old, all of whom will deeply miss their beloved grandma. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and the countless children she took in and cared for as her own, who will forever carry her spirit forward.
